Over 2 weeks old already...and we should just be coming home from the hospital!

I am finally getting back to get some more pictures put up.  We were due just a few days ago on the 24th...by then she had been around for over 2 weeks.  Crazy!!  I couldn't imagine what life was going to be like with her and now I can't imagine what life would be like without her.  She is a very good baby.  We are having a little trouble learning how to nurse, but that is getting better every day...and sometimes each night!  We found out that she was tongue tied so we had that clipped and that has really helped with her feeding.  We did avoid having to put her on a billy blanket, which was good.  She is rapidly gaining weight and was back up to her birth weight in under a week, and she came home at only 5 lb, 9 oz. (Her birth weight was 6 lb, 7 oz.)  We have had lots of visitors, but they have come in shifts which is nice.  My mom left over a week ago...I bawled forever!  Tessa, Wayne and the kids were here that weekend though and then Kass and Justin came out Wed night-Friday.  Calli will be here tomorrow (Sunday) through Wed.  So I haven't been too lonely yet!  (I am not one to be alone for days on end...so I am very thankful for them!)  We hope to get Grandma Amie and Pauline out here to meet the little one soon...and hopefully we can get back west before too long!  Enjoy the pictures...hopefully it isn't every 2 weeks that I get them updated.  Should be a little easier now that we are getting adjusted!

Birth Day 09-09-09

Well, I went to my dr. appt on Tuesday to find out that my blood pressure was through the roof, showing that I was preeclamptic. The nurse warned me that I probably wouldn't be going to school the next day as I would probably be put on bedrest. When the Dr. came in she told me I was preeclamptic and that they were going to take me over and monitor me. So I thought...ok...watch my blood pressure for a while and then go home...WRONGO BUCKO! She said that they were going to be inducing me tonight and we should have a baby in the next 24 hours! I about fell off of the table. I was thinking that bedrest was a possibility....but having a baby already was not even a possibility in my mind! I tried to tell her that I had a volleyball game to keep score for, a desk to clean off at school because I ran off in such a hurry to my appt., every excuse I could think of...nothing worked. They escorted me to labor and delivery after I called Pete and Mom bawling! I got all settled in my room and they started a pill to start inducing around 6 along with giving me the most horrible stuff ever...magnesium sulfate to prevent my brain from having a stroke or a seizure. (Result of preeclampsia and the reason for the induction.) Mom and Dad arrived around midnight (after giving a hitch hiker a ride from Rapid to Sioux Falls...no joke!) By 4:45 am I was fully dialated and ready to start pushing. And our precious little girl arrived at 6:14 am. She was 6lbs 7 oz and was 19 inches long. They had the NICU in the delivery room to take care of her right away because of the magnesium that I was on that was in her system. We got to see her for a few minutes and then they took her to monitor her due to the magnesium. All ended up being fine and a couple hours later she was brought back to us. We had to stay in labor and delivery until 7pm because they had to continue me on the magnesium for 12 more hours! It was horrible stuff and my day was a complete blur. We were glad to get up to the family suites that night! We stayed all of Thurs and went home on Friday afternoon. We are all doing well. We have been in to have her blood checked because of her levels for jaundice. We think that she has peaked and we have avoided having to do the billiblanket. :) She has got her days and nights a little mixed up, so sleep is little and far between...but nothing I didn't expect. She has her daddy wrapped around her little finger already! I will keep everyone updated and put new pictures on as often as I have time to.

Is there a baby under there???

17 days and counting....

We have had a busy few weeks around here. We have 3 weeks of school under our belts...about got them trained by now!! I am already ready for the break I am going to have though!! I have a great sub lined up and am getting things in line so I will have nothing to worry about while I am away. I am hoping to take off until Thanksgiving break if baby doesn't come early.
Pete has been working tirelessly on the basement...sometimes until the wee hours of the morning...and sometimes pounding nails until then. It makes it a little hard to sleep when that happens. But it looks great. We have sheet rock up and it is getting textured tomorrow. We are hoping to be done with almost everything by the time baby arrives!!
I had a wonderful baby shower put on by 3 very special friends! It was perfect and I had so many people compliment what a beautiful shower it was. I got so many nice things!! Wow...I have the best friends ever! (And I got my diaper bag...so we have that all packed and ready!) I finished packing my bag today, so we should be ready to rock and roll.
I did get permission to travel to Pierre this weekend for one last hoorah before baby comes. All of the Wilsons were there...minus a few of the older nieces and nephews who are at college or have jobs! :( We spent all of Sat out on the lake soaking up the sun! It was nice! I had to be a little creative with ways to keep my feet up all day as I have a lot of swelling and my blood pressure went up this week. So I got a lecture and I am trying to be better about staying off my feet....not an easy job when you are a teacher!
We will let you all know when there is news...won't be long now!!
